Help us to provide a holiday party for Special Needs youth!
A year ago, Elijah Place opened it's doors to provide an art-based social group for children with special needs. As a budding organization, Elijah Place has worked hard to make and grow a safe and happy community space, where children with special needs can learn self-expression through art. Now, they want those children to enjoy a holiday party for them and their community.
Vancouver is a large, diverse family community. Children and youth with disabilities have some access to academic and medical assistance, but their social and creativity needs are important too! Did you know? Art therapy has proven to be beneficial for many people, offering unique benefits and the ability to focus on the creative process. Elijah place provides access to tap into the creativity and expression of art, in the safety and warmth of a weekly social group.
For the holidays, Elijah Place would like to celebrate all the children who attending their events throughout 2017 and 2018. Children with special needs can struggle to be in social situations, which can make large holiday gatherings stressful. However, these families now have this inclusive community to celebrate the holidays with, and we want to provide them with the opportunity to have the best event possible.
We hope everyone can attend this party; but should a group member be unable, we aspire with full funding to provide them with a specially delivered gift from Santa to thank them for their attendance at Elijah Place.
What your contribution will provide:
- free admission to all families
- decoration to provide a festive friendly atmosphere
- entertainment; including performance from local musicians, a holiday puppet show, and a dance routine
- printed photos with Santa
- the ability to send Santa with a FULL sack of toys!
Can't donate money? We also need...
- volunteers at the event
- a "Santa"; we do have a costume already!
- a photographer to take pictures of children with Santa
- any donations of small gifts for children attending
- donations of holiday decorations
