We are the Wright family from Grove, OK. We are in desperate need of funds for an adoption of our son’s brother in Honduras. If we can’t get the funds together rather quickly, there is a possibility these brothers will be separated for life.
Here’s the shortened version of our story: We adopted our son from Honduras four years ago when he was 11. At the time of adoption, we learned that his brother, Jose (age six at that time), was not available for adoption. We were asked if we would adopt him if they (DINAF, the Honduran DHS) could get him declared abandoned. Of course, because these brothers are very close and should be together.
For the past 4 years, adoptions came to a standstill. Defeated, we concluded it wasn’t meant to be. We made several trips to see José and tried to keep in contact. Due to financial hardships over the last 18 months, we haven’t been to Honduras as often as we would like.
Out of the blue, September 12, 2019 we got word that DINAF in Honduras will be completing Jose’s paperwork and will be placing him in a family. They are aware we want him but if we can’t raise the money for the adoption, they could place him anywhere in the world. We would not be allowed the information on his placement due to confidentiality and the boys would be forever separated.
Here are some examples of this costly process:
International program fee: $13,500
Home studies: $2,500-$5,000
Homeland security I-600: $950
Finger prints : $240
Background checks: $75-$150
Travel (2 trips required). Airline tickets $1,000 x 6 plus a one way $750
Hotel and apartment: $1,500-$2,500
Transportation in Honduras: $500
Translation services $2,000
Psychological Evaluations: $1,500 +
Medical evaluations: $350 +
Attorney fees: $1,200
Apostille of dossier documents: $200-$300
VISA: $350
Physical and immunizations: $300-$500
In all the total is between $35,000-$45,000
If you should find it in your heart the desire to help, every $1.00 counts and God bless you. We are doing everything we can to raise the money needed. We can’t let these boys be separated. If you are not able to contribute financially, your prayers are welcome and coveted.
