Meet my sister Tersia, She is such a lovely person inside and out, and it really saddens us to have heard what has just happened to her. The cornea has to be flown in from America to South Africa, and this operation is needed Asap in order for her to regain her sight, and prevent any further damage. Alone we can only do so much, but together, and with God's help, much can be accomplished. Any donation no matter how big or how small, will be greatly appreciated, and will help her regain her sight.
Started in 2003 she got an eye infection, thought it was pink eye. She went to our GP and he gave her eye drops, nothing helped. The eye got worse so our doctor referred her to an eye specialist Dr Le Roux who diagnosed her with a herpes virus (same as a cold sore virus)in the cornea.
After continued flare ups, it turned into "Disciform scar" (also causing swelling and inflammation). They also treated the eye with drops. Over years of continued flare ups she got a "Dendritic ulcer" (A scar in the muscular area of the cornea) causing irreparable damage to her vision. She has recently suffered from a collapsed cornea and leakage resulting in no vision at all, recently having to have a medical patch inside the eye which is temporary, and can keep collapsing until she can have a "penetrating corneal graft" This has been ongoing for 13 years.
The funds will pay for her penetrating corneal graft (Cornea Transplant) - she will be able to see again. She has a 2year old little girl and wishes to be able to see clearly in both eyes. If she doesn’t get the “transplant” the “good eye” will start to take strain and with the sudden leakage in the eye and cornea collapsing, she will need the transplant as soon as possible.
