Who we are
The Long Beach Rebellion is a local and grass roots movement. While we are known locally as the Long Beach Rebellion we are an official political committee and registered with the California Secretary of State as the Committe for Long Beach Families Against 10% Sales Tax.
We consist of ordinary Long Beach families, residents and small business owners who are outraged about a proposed new sales tax hike in our city called Measure A. Measure A will be on the ballot this June 7th and with your support we are committed to stop it in its tracks!
In only a short span of activity we have been mentioned in several of leading media outlets as the dominant opposition to Mayor Garcia's proposed tax hike. With your support our impact can deepen and ultimately beat the Mayor. Please read more about us by clicking on the links below:

Why this matters
Long Beach is a great place to raise a family when our leaders are honest with us. We believe that Measure A is wrong for Long Beach because it uses fear and a false promise to raise the cost of living for most residents who only bring home less than $53k each year. While this 1% tax may seem like a small increase, it would take our sales tax to 10% and amounts to an estimated $48 million a year for city leaders to legally spend on anyting they want. Without a legal guarentee to ensure that public officials spend the money on what they promise, Long Beach residents and small businesses simply can't afford to give Mayor Garcia a blank check.
How we'll use the money
Our Mayor is very popular. He and former Mayor's Foster and O'Niel have joined forces to raise over $1 million to get this tax passed on June 7th.
Since the Mayor is raising so much money to tax us we need your help funding our extensive internet, social media and ground game strategy. While an approach like this is unprecedented in Long Beach we have the skills to accomplish it if you will help finance it. Because we value transparency here is where your money will go:
1) Video production that will be used across social media including facebook, twitter and youtube. Click Here to view the sort of videos we can produce with your help.
2) Large banners to be held at high-trafficked intersections.
3) Thousands of 5x7 color signs posted at local business cash registers. Click Here to view is the sign small businesses are posting at their cash registers.
4) Colorful posters for local/small business store windows. Click Here to view the sign that small businesses are placing in their store windows.
5) Colorful flyers to be distributed at City Council meetings and local community and neighborhood meetings.
6) Large and colorful yardsigns .
7) Graphic T-shirts and hats to be worn by supporters at City Hall protests.
