On Friday, October 7, 2016 Hurricane Matthew roared through Daytona Beach, taking down power lines, damaging the hotels, homes and buildings in its path.
The home, belonging to Vernon VanDuyne was destroyed by a massive 300 year old oak tree, which literally, broke his home in two. Vernon lived there with his family which consist of his four grandchildren, whom he was helping to take care of, at the time.
Unfortunately, Vernon was not insured, and the tree needs removed and the home razed. This, will cost thousands of dollars. He, recently, broke both feet in a fall, working construction and is. unemployed, and this tragedy has set him back, so far, it looks totally hopeless. Anyone, that knows Vernon, knows he works very hard, to care for his family!
At this time, his four small grandchildren are living with a stepson, to get by and Vernon is living in a tent, parked on his front lawn. This family, desperately, needs our help, in this difficult time. Any donations would be greatly appreciated! Estimated cost to remove the tree with a crane and tear down the house, is well over $12,000 dollars.
Vernon, has done construction work for me and is a friend.
Let's do our part to help, a hard working man, help his family. Please donate today!
