Our Mission:
We are living in an unique era defined by the imbalance of social and environmental systems. Unfortunately, the hardships of these unhealthy systems is being felt by all. Yet in a positive light, actions to repair these issues are happening everywhere!
It has become apparent that we have a new world to create and design principles call us to do this together. Similar to an ecosystem, the solutions to our systemic problems will be adaptive and diverse just like the community that lives within it.
Creating the Alternative is a movement of diverse individuals that are working locally to impact globally. We feel it is necessary to have a forum to capture all the amazing efforts taking place. So we've embarked on a journey seeking out communal alternatives to share with everyone in hope of spreading change. The goal is free inspiration and information for ALL.
About the Tour:
This tour was born out of vow to not use petroleum and our desire to design a regenerative lifestyle; a way of living that goes beyond sustaining our environment and strives to thrive. Therefore, we helped build a vehicle that is inline with our value system. The SolTrekker is a wasted vegetable oil and hydrogen fueled RV equipped with solar electricity, rainwater catchment and compost toilet. We travel to alternative living institutes, universities, ecovillages, permaculture centers, social justice non-profits, backyard initiatives... well really anywhere that is creating a regenerative future.
Why We Need Support
The regenerative lifestyle we have created costs little and it is our goal to minimize our dependency on the monetary system. Our vehicle supports our main needs of water and shelter. Our fuel comes from the waste of restaurants and we work for our food in a number of alternative exchange systems. Costs that we have been unable to avoid are vehicle maintenance (that we cannot service on our own) and insurance. In addition we want to be able to support the communal efforts that we are fortunate enough to take part in. So any left over raised funds will be donated to these blossoming initiatives.
