Janet's Breast Cancer Fight

My name is Janet Young.  I try and live up to the name!  I have lived in Nanaimo since 1954 and I am 73 years young.  I have been totally on my own since 1965 with no children or significant other or relatives.  My family is my Nanaimo community.   I have worked in local restaurants and shops for my whole life here and also worked on the ferries in the 70's.

I love music and my favourite local band is Almost Johnny Cash, whom I have been following closely for the past 8 years.  I love nature and have a bunch of birds who depend on me for their food every day!  

Recently I had some life changing news.  I have been diagnosed with breast cancer and have quite a large lump.  At this point I do not know what is to come but I am positive that the outcome will be good.  The surgery will be in a month or so and it will either be a lumpectomy or a mastectomy.  

I am calling on my community for a hand.  I only have a small pension and have been supplementing with small jobs locally.  I have no savings and high interest debt.  With this news I will not be able to meet even minimum payments.  I do not know how long recovery or treatment will be but my budget is so incredibly tight that I truly needed help before the diagnosis, and now...........

I am calling on the only people I call family - Nanaimo.  I would be so incredibly grateful for any help at all.
