Village Meat Mkt Flood '16 Recovery
Donation protected
To all friends of the Village Meat Market & Cafe,
This is a difficult thing to do. Having said that, we are in need of help. After Hurricane Katrina, I moved home to Cedar Rapids. The four things that survived besides my animals were on display here at the store. In 2008, we lost our home in Time Check neighborhood. We then opened shop in Czech Village. Due to loss in revenue, I seriously contemplated not re-opening after this flood of 2016. The outpouring from our community changed my mind. "GoFundMe" pages are not for profit. I am reaching out, as my employees and my vendors are top notch and need to be taken care of. In this industry, if you can make it five to six years then you stand a great chance for longevity. Well, we made it 4 1/2 years just eeking by, but that's where we were supposed to be based on industry standards.
The folks that have donated or inquired about donating are regular blue collar, hard-working people and really can't affort it. I want to take care of them as well. Anything helps.
This community, these friends and loyal customers gave me a little light back.
It is so very appreciated.
God bless us and thank you.
