HSA Donate - Refugee Camp - Lesvos

Donation protected
I will be returning to Kara Tepe in November for a month or 2. And hoping to bring much needed funds for HSA, Humanitarian Support Agency.  Kara Tepe is a refugee camp that houses approx. 1100 people. Mostly families but it is basically a general population. Men, women, children - young and old.  Grandmothers and grandfathers. It is like any other population in any  small town anywhere.  Except thay have little to nothing. Luggage was discouraged on the boats from Turkey. They often arrived with only the clothes on their backs. They live in tents 12ft by 21ft. No heat or electricity or cooking possible in the tents which house entire families.

HSA which was started by Fred and Ceyda Morlet filled a void that was needed. It has 2 main purposes. Food  and clothing  distribution to the residents. But also contributes with language classes and education in conjunction with other NGOs. Fred and Ceyda have recently started another camp in the Athens area where many refugees are stranded.

Any funds that are raised here I will distribute (and post as I go on FB). None of the funds will be used for any of my expenses. Once I arrive I will be able to see what will be needed and from there buy any clothes or anything that is in demand to help with the upcoming winter weather (yes it gets pretty cold and nasty) that I can find at various outlets there.  All will be documented as I go.

I have been asked why did I go. In the spring I was able to go as I was very close in Spain. It seemed a good idea to try and do something instead of only talking....Now, I leave from Arizona, because help is still needed. I go for the residents and also to work with a special group of people. The volunteers come from everywhere - some for a few weeks and others for months at a time and most return for a second or third tour we can say. I can go on and on about how special they are but just one example. In the spring a beautiful lady arrived the day I started. Her vacation time - 2 weeks from the states. Many take their vacations there but few to none I know about come in between chemo treatments.... She is a SPECIAL lady and was and is loved by all. I am excited to get started again and work with new volunteers and old friends.

Donations have been drying up and they are in desperate need of funds. I think one or 2 volunteers who are key to the operation are paid a small amount WHEN possible. Otherwise not....
So please think about it and help if you can - friends and family. I am hoping that many of you will help me here. But friend or not - help or not - please share this among your friends. The more it is out there, better the chance to reach my goal here.
