One thing that has been pretty constant at all sorts of bicycle races throughout the years here in the greater Chicagoland area is that the PSIMET tent has been there almost every single time. That one time in Glencoe when it was freezing and raining? That other time in Gelncoe when it was freezing and raining?

How about that time in the feedzone in Galena when it poured the whole day? Jinglecross with the intense cold and wind but the PSIMET tent was your warm home away from home? Trek Cup where not only was there shelter and a place to stash your stuff but a keg as well.

This summer at the Intelligentsia series when the races were cancelled but the tent kept everyone "mostly" dry?

The tent(s) have been through a lot of great times and kept a lot of people dry or warm. That stopped this last weekend in Iowa. While setting up early to help ensure we had a place for everyone to call home we got caught in a micro-burst. Extremely intense weather was too much for many to most tents in the area. Usually our extremely heavy duty tents will come out unscathed but this was one time too many.

Usually we can replace a part or two but this time it was too much. Even with a roll of duct tape it ended up looking like a baby giraffe who had just learned how to walk.

Sure this is a "team" tent but I don't charge team dues and I have always given shelter to anyone in need whenever I can. I am opening this up to team and anyone else looking to chip in a couple of bucks because they appreciated the warm greeting, the turn of a wrench to help them out of simply a cold drink and some shade on a hot day.

The money this raises will go directly towards paying the $1527.50 that I have racked up in trying to replace the tents. This isn't even to replace the side panels and some of those were destroyed during the super cold races in the past as the plastic shattered.

It may not seem like much $ to many but it's really too much for me to handle on my own at the moment. I can't stand the thought of going to a race without having the tents so I am pulling out plastic and crossing my fingers and hoping I've spread enough good kahrma to maybe have some come back my way.

I'm embarassed to have to do this but I assume everyone who does one of these is in some way. With that in mind I want to thank you in advance for anything you can chip in. If we by some miracle go above our goal then every dime will be put towards propane to heat the tents and towards additional tent area/coverage to enable us to house more and more of the community we love.
