Hi my name is Melissa Watters and I am a very good friend of Dan and Mandy Danvers ( Caprices parents) I am organising this fundraiser to help out a very caring, loveable family in this hard time.
'This is Carprice's story told by her parents'
Caprice's Story
On the 16th June 2015 our lives were devastatingly turned upside down.
Our beautiful 8 year old daughter Caprice was rushed in for an MRI after symptoms of an essential tremor had become much worse. The MRI showed a bilateral tumour of the thalamus.
The very same day we were sent to the John Hunter Children's Hospital and were seen by a neurologist and oncologist. There are no words to describe this day.
Within a couple of weeks Caprice underwent a craniotomy. They were unable to remove the tumour because of its location but did get enough for a biopsy. The tumour was a grade 3 AnaplasticAstrocytoma.
Caprice then underwent 33 sessions of radiation therapy 5 days a week. In true Caprice style she took this in her stride and insisted that her appointments be made after school.
The next 2 MRI's revealed a shrinkage in the tumour and we were delighted with the news. But this unfortunately was shortlived. 3 months later an MRI showed no change in the tumour.
Another 3 months later we received more devastating news, there are now numerous tumours throughout Caprice's brain. Weare now faced with grade 4 Glioblastoma.
Caprice is currently undergoing intravenous targeted treatment at the Sydney Children's Hospital at Randwick 2 days a week.

Fundraiser
The impact of this on any family brings considerable pressure and emotions. Obviously all focus is on Caprice which has meant Mandy having to give up her long term role with NBN. Dan's own business. Kruzin Boards has also taken a back seat.
Dan and Mandy are community minded people, and have even supported a number of families in the past that have been affected by childhood cancer.
Dan and Mandy haven't asked for this support and in fact it has taken considerable persuasion from family and friends to allow this happen.
We are hoping that the good karma that this family has given over the years returns 10 fold in their time of need.
All money will go to help Dan and Mandy cover medical bills and any other outstanding debts that have accrued.
