Hola, me llamo Raúl soy el creador de Volunteers to the World, un proyecto para enviar voluntarios especializados en construcción a lugares donde ha habido desastres naturales.
Mi misión es reconstruir con proyectos antisísmicos y sostenibles colaborando con trabajadores locales.
Mi camino con Volunteers to the World empezó siendo exactamente eso: un voluntario, trabajando con pequeñas ONGs que estaban haciendo lo posible por ayudar a gente que había perdido mucho en los terremotos que sacudieron Nepal durante el 2015. Me sentí feliz de poder aportar mi experiencia y formación en construcción allí donde más la necesitaban.
Siempre he querido un mundo mejor, y pienso que ayudando a otros es la mejor forma de construir para tenerlo. He vivido casi una década con muchas personas de múltiples países, me he enamorado de todas las culturas y al final seas de donde seas a todos nos gusta poder disfrutar la vida que tenemos.
He visto lo que es que haya ayudas que estén de moda y de repente dejen de estarlo, un país no se arregla de un día para otro y tristemente el mundo está repleto de las secuelas de desastres que han dejado sin casa, escuelas, hospitales, etc a personas que se han visto sobrepasadas por el planeta. En la reconstrucción de países que han sido derribados por desastres naturales todas las manos que llegan son necesarias, aún y así, acompañadas de experiencia y formación en construcción marcan una mayor diferencia y generan más cambio.
Con Volunteers to the World ayudo a iniciar proyectos, hago su seguimiento y colaboro en su construcción con ONGs que están en el lugar. También involucro a personas locales y formo a la gente del lugar para construir con otras técnicas y de forma en que reaprovechen sus materiales de toda la vida. No es dar los peces, debemos enseñar a pescar para que nuestra ayuda tenga un mayor impacto en la recuperación un país.
Con las donaciones ayudas a hacer posible que vaya como técnico especializado a construir, desarrollar y dar formación, a parte de llevar directamente recursos al proyecto.

Hay veces en que no sabemos donde van a parar los fondos recaudados para el proyecto en organizaciones grandes y estructura más diluída, lo que hacemos aquí es que el dinero llegue directamente a la compra de materiales y gastos directos del proyecto.
Ya estoy en el segundo proyecto de una escuela primaria para niños en Nepal con la ONG Hugging Nepal, y podría decir que siento que estoy dando mucho con los ladrillos que aporto, pero a medida que sigo solo siento que las personas me dan más y más: principalmente mucha felicidad.

Hello,
I am Raul Marroquín, founder of Volunteers to the World. This project aims to send volunteers specialized in construction to places where there have been natural disasters. My mission is to help and lead the rebuilding process with anti-seismic and sustainable techniques, collaborating with local workers.
My path with Volunteers to the World started out exactly as that: a volunteer working with small NGOs who were doing their best to help people who had lost so much in the earthquakes that shook Nepal during 2015. I was happy to be able to contribute my experience and construction training where they needed it most.
I've always wanted a better world and I think helping others is the best way to achieve it. I have lived almost a decade with many people from multiple countries and have fallen in love with their cultures. I have come tot he conclusion that wherever you are from, in the end we all like to enjoy the life we have.
I have seen what the "fashionable aid" is and how it suddenly ceases to be. A country is not rebuilt in one day and tragically the world is full of the aftermath of disasters that have left people without home, schools, hospitals, etc. The rebuilding of countries that have been brought down by natural disasters needs all the aid available. More so, that of those experienced and trained in construction, which will have a greater impact and help the affected even further.
In Volunteers to the World, we start the projects, follow them up and collaborate in their construction with NGOs that are on the field. We also involve local people and train them to build with newer techniques while still reusing their traditional materials. We do not give them the fish to eat, instead we teach them how to fish; that way our help has a bigger impact on the recovery of their country.
With your donations you make it possible for me to attend as specialized technician to build, develop and provide training, rather than just contributing with resources to the project.

Sometimes we don’t know where the funds - raised for the projects in bigger and more diluted organizations - are going to. We make the money go directly to the purchase of materials and the project itself.
I'm already working in my second project on a primary school for children in Nepal together with the NGO Hugging Nepal. I feel that I'm giving a lot with the bricks I provide, but as I keep going I feel that people give me more and more: mainly a lot of happiness.
