My name is Tyler Gonzales and I'm in my second year of school at San Francisco Art Institute where I am studying Printmaking. I come from Santa Rosa, CA and throughout high school I participated in a four year art program, ArtQuest. By the end of my high school career, I had obtained a GPA of 4.25 and was the top of my AP art class. This experience was so valuable and ultimately inspired me to pursue the arts.
SFAI stood out to me because of it's historical significance as an art school. So many great artists have come out of the school and the Bay Area in general, and to be able to learn and grow in that environment is a huge honor. I am loving my classes and the connections I am making with my teachers.
I am the first in my family to attend a 4 year college. My parents are a huge support and have given me all they can to make this happen, which I am so grateful for.
I was awarded multiple scholarships from SFAI, which without I would not have been able to attend. Despite this, we have still had to take out student and parent loans, as well as a home-equity loan to cover the expenses.
Since moving to the Bay Area, I have held multiple jobs while going to school. Currently I am working 30+ hours. It is a busy schedule, but also rewarding. While doing all this, I have still been able to maintain a GPA of 3.67.
Tuition is very expensive and I would be very grateful to have help. GoFundMe is offering a scholarship to students who start a campaign with #GFMScholarship in the description. I don't want anyone to give me more money than they can afford, all I need is 10 donors and I will be eligible for the scholarship. Just a small donation would be helpful.
Thank you so much,
Tyler
