The Puget Sound Amateur Hockey Association (PSAHA) is a structured, non-profit (501-3c) organization that offers ice hockey programs, for children and adults at all age and skill levels. It provides learn to skate programs, recreational hockey programs, and competitive Tier II (travel) hockey programs for all hockey players living in our communities throughout Pierce and Thurston County. PSAHA is governed by the nationally based USA Hockey program and it's youth teams (Tacoma Rockets) play in the Metropolitan Hockey League (recreational play), the Pacific Northwest Amateur Hockey Association (competitive play), and the adult teams play in the Rainier Hockey League .

The Puget Sound Hockey Center is located in the Port of Tacoma, it is the heart and soul of hockey in Tacoma. PSAHA took over operations of the rink approximately 10 years ago and the ice rink has been operating in the building for over 24 years. The building was recently sold. During the first week of this year's hockey season PSAHA received notice that they must vacate the building by October 31st.

PSAHA has less than 45 days to reschedule hundreds of practice times and games which will impact more than 300 youth and adult players. At the same time they must sort, pack, move and store all the tools and equipment needed to operate and maintain an ice rink (this includes melting the ice, dismantling and storing the rink itself), adult and youth rental gear, 24 years of hockey history, trophies, it's operations office, and two Zambonis for the 2016-17 season.

Your donation will be immediately used to offset the costs of moving, storage and such that PSAHA will incur as a result of not having access to their home ice rink during this transition. PSAHA anticipates being able to start moving into their new rink in the spring of 2017. Please visit our website at www.psaha.com and view a list of materials and labor that is needed to move into our new building.

PSAHA is committed to continue teaching the members of our community the exciting and fast-paced sport of ice hockey during this transistion.  PSAHA strives to emphasize sportsmanship, self-discipline, self-confidence, and respect for others, a spirit of competitiveness, team building and cooperation, and most importantly a sense of fun and accomplishment for each player.

PSAHA looks forward to being a partner in the expansion of ice hockey and other ice sports such as curling, sled hockey, broom hockey, and speed skating in Tacoma next summer.

We are moved out if the Meat Locker but still have a ton of work to do. The owner of our new building has graciously allowed us to temporarily set up the rink at one end if the building while the construction takes place on the other half. Our goal is to be playing hockey in the building by the end of December.
We still have lots to do and want to thank everyone who has donated to our campaign. Pleas share the link as we are still in need of funds to cover the expenses associated with this move.

I want to thank all the support that everyone has shown this past week. Volunteers have been a tremendous help in getting things packed and staged for moving.
We will be holding a "Goodbye Skate" this Saturday (October 1st) from 9:10am - 10:10am and have vintage Tomahawk jerseys for sale along with a limited number of vintage Rocket jerseys for sale.

This organization has become my family. This is for my son Orynn, who loves this sport.
