Rainbow Crosswalk for Fort Langley,
Donation protected
This campaign will now include a public bench, to be decorated in mosaic tiles by children and families from Fort Langley! A piece of usable public art created by and for the community!
My name is Elaine Brewer-White, I am an artist living in Fort Langley, trying to raise funds to pay for a Rainbow Crosswalk.
An earlier proposal for a self-funded crosswalk project with paint sponsors and volunteers was rejected.
City hall says we must use their contracted crosswalk painters for safety and liability reasons.
Their costs for proposed crosswalk was $50,000.00 for the first site proposed, and $12,000.00 for a second, smaller site.
We have an outside source willing to put up $6000.00 for the smaller site -- and now I want to raise more funds to show city hall that Langley really does want what most cities have -- a symbol of love and inclusion!
Vancouver, Victoria, Surrey, Kelowna, Maple Ridge, Whistler has just approved one - these B.C. cities all have Rainbow Crosswalks.
It is important that my city shows their support for a diverse culture based on love and acceptance for all!
