Hair razing on Halloween......

Suzie is a 40 year old Mother of two living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).  Since her diagnosis in 2010 her disease has started to progress rapidly.  Suzie has been accepted to a treatment facility in the Philippines to undergo HSCT (Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation) treatment that will HALT her MS. The treatment, travel and 12 months recovery and rehabilitation will need to be self-funded and she needs to raise the money to pay for it all - $150,000.

“For those of you who know me, you will know that the decision to shave my head is not one I made easily! You will also know that I am a big softie with an even bigger heart who genuinely wants to help people.  When I first heard of Suzie’s fight against MS and the campaign she was embarking on to fundraise to support her treatment, I was overwhelmed at what a big journey this amazing woman had ahead of her.  I started to help with small contributions and events but knew that this was going to require something extraordinary to help her achieve her end goal.  So while on holiday, and as with Sarah, a few wines had, I made the decision that I too would shave my head.  While I love my hair and the shock of shaving it may take a while to get use too, it is only small fish in the bigger pond of life.  My hair will grow back, but this opportunity for Suzie is something that she has only one shot at.  I could only hope that in the same position, that the love of the people around me would do the same for me! So let’s get together and smash this fundraising out of the Park!”

“Once I understood what Suzie was embarking on my first thought was how brave, my second ‘how can I help?’ What could I do…..For those of you that know me well I am never going to run a marathon so raising money that was out, after some careful consideration over a couple of glasses of wine (J) I decided to shave my head, this is not normal behaviour for me and terrifies me a little bit!!!! However, Suzie is a colleague and a friend and her ability to put herself out there for herself and her kids is amazing and inspirational to me, I think it’s important that we help each other where we can and shaving my head is something I can do!
