Hi my name is Petie. I was hit by a car and brought to Franklin County Dog shelter on 8/3/16. My family never came for me and no one wanted to take a chance since I looked big and scary.
I was alone hurting and scared. A very special person name Melanie came to visit me and I passed her temperament test! That temperament test gave Matt & Cari Gallagher the green light to accept me as a foster pet. I Have A Dream Rescue Org. stepped in and saved me from certain death( I was on the list for euthanasia)
I was brought to the vet for an X-ray and an exam. I had road rash and abrasions all over my body, a respiratory infection, fractured pelvis and a left rear leg that kept popping out of the socket. I have a tendon that is torn in my left hip to femur joint. My bones are fine, I just need it to be strong again so I can walk, run and go potty like a normal dog again. I don't know what was going on but I am alive!!! I am a strong, loving and want to be able to chase squirrels just like my fur brothers Champ and Knox! The doctors say I need surgery but I am not sure what that is.
They can cut my femur to fix the joint or they can replace my hip joint. My total hip replacement is the most expensive but it is the strongest option for a big dog like me but it will cost about $5000 to do so. There are less expensive options but my foster parents want my 2nd chance to be the best pain free life I could live!!
Not everyone can donate and that is ok. Please share my story so I can live my 2nd chance life to the fullest! I get along with my two fur brothers and even the cat! I just want to snuggle and have my belly rubbed! I am super sweet and so thankful I Have A Dream Rescue stepped in to save my life!!
Thanks for any help you can provide. While I wait for surgery, my tail is waggin, I am giving my foster family kisses and snuggling in their laps. I am so happy to be alive!!
Any funds that are left over and not used for my surgery will be donated to I Have a Dream Rescue Org. so more dogs can be rescued and find their forever home.
