Supplies for Standing Rock

Donation protected
We've just come from the Sacred Stone camp on Sioux land at the Missouri River.  The protesters need GEAR and BUILDING SUPPLIES.  They need lumber and plywood (for getting ready for winter), tents, tarps, coffee pots, cooking pots, etc.

It's helpful to send money donations, but there is no place out there near the reservation to buy the things they need (they gave me a list).  So we're running this GoFundMe until tomorrow (Mon., Aug. 29) at noon.  Whatever money we raise we're going to the stores in Bismarck to convert to the stuff they need.  Then we'll haul it back out to the camp tomorrow night in our truck and trailer.

They were very grateful for the stuff we brought up.  The 5 - 7 gallon containers, it turns out, will be really useful because they can be filled from the central water supply and taken to individual campsites within the overall Sacred Stone camp (which covers, at a guess, about 20 acres).  (We also brought a portable shade canopy, hoodies, fruit juice, flats of individual plastic bottles of water that can be refilled, a garden hose, and fruit.  We hit it lucky because it seems like everything we brought will be useful.)

Thanks to the generostiy of Jerima King and Pati Turner's Sacred Earth Foundation, Elliot and I are covered for most of the purchases we made in Colorado Springs and brought with us.

But these courageous protesters need MORE.    They are preparing for the start of winter.  They are NOT LEAVING -- though it appears the strategy of the government and the pipeline company is to wait for the snows to make them give up.  They're not going to give up, and they need our help getting ready for the bitter cold of winter.

These are peaceful, determined people who have been holding firm since April of this year in the face of illegal and immoral action (for details, please read the excellent article just published by the Huffington Post).
