Hello friends and family! Rob Gray & Becky Ledingham Gray are trying to increase awareness about becoming a living organ donor and raising money to help support the living kidney donor who will save Rob's life!
Our generous friend Stacey Suther (Niederstadt) has gone through the testing at Ohio State University Transplant Center and has been approved to donate one of her kidneys on Rob's behalf. Although Stacey is NOT a match for Rob, she can still donate and she will save someone else's life with whom she matches. That will then allow Rob to receive a healthy kidney from a living donor with type B or O, matching Rob. This option ends up saving two or more lives depending on how many people are involved in this organ exchange at OSU.
But here is the recent twist, Stacey has a VERY rare blood type allowing her to only donate to a very limited amount of the population. However, anyone matching her blood type, is able to RECEIVE a donated organ from ANY BLOOD type out there. This makes it much easier for those recipients to get matched. So right now, there is no one matching on the National Kidney Registry to whom Stacey could donate.
It is much healthier for someone in Rob's situation to receive a kidney from a living donor. We know whoever donates to Rob or on behalf of Rob will have to be off work for about two weeks. This fundraiser will be used to help support that generous person while they recouperate and if enough funds, to help with Rob's out of pocket medical expenses. Donations are very much appreciated by all parties involved.
You are invited to a musical benefit we are hosting on Saturday 9/17/16 starting at 8pm. This will be held at Jimmie's Ladder 11, located at 936 Brown St, Dayton, OH 45409. Live music performed by A Side B Side, John Debuc, Suicide Hill and the Bauner Chafin Band. So come on out for some live music and help us save lives!!
