Detroit Firefighters is an non-profit started and ran by members of the Detroit Fire Department. We are men and wome who care about the citizens and visitors of the city beyond any emergency situation. We recognize the greatness in a city is measured by its people and no greater value than the children. With that thouht in mind we are exciting to share the following news.
On Saturday, August 27, 2016, Detroit Firefighters will be hosting our Annual Back to School Rally. As always, we expect this year’s event to eclipse last year’s participation. Last year, with the help of our business community, neighborhood supporters, local block clubs and community organizations; we were able to provide over 1000 backpacks for some of Detroit’s most disadvantage school aged children. Those backpacks were filled with school supplies helpful sponsor related promotional materials and other valuable information.
We were also able to give away several bicycles as well as provide live entertainment by some of Detroit’s most popular artists. Some of the day’s highlights were a dunk tank, stilt walkers, street dancers, exotic animal show, horseback rides, extrication demonstrations, high angle rescue thrill team, clowns, face painting, free haircuts, and much more. The event will covered by local media. Many of Detroit’s elected and business leaders will be stopping by to participate in this awesome community-building event.
We hope you will join us and take this valuable opportunity to promote education as well as identify your organization as being firmly invested in Detroit’s greatest asset, our children. While we have the entire community being in one place, we also offer free health and dental screenings, free food, home fire safety planning, lifesaving CPR training and much more. We use this event to encourage the children and parents to stay engaged in education as it is the surest avenue toward success.
Every donation will be used toward the purhase of school supplies for the attending childres as well as the production cost associated with the event.
This year our theme is "Together We Can" hence, we need your help to make this event a success once again. Please donate and share this campaign as this means the world to us as well as the kids it helps out. Whatever you can donateplease know we are humbled and greatly appreciative.
