My name is Sara Petite, some of you know me as Sweet Pea. I am a gritty Polyanna and sort of Minnie Pearl type Bruce Springsteen rocker with some good old fashioned Classic Outlaw Country style. When you listen to my songs which some tend to be autobiographical: one minute I am in cartoon land with a bunch of angry hens or Tom Petty and the next I might be trying to sweep up the pieces of a broken heart off the floor.
This is my 5th album and it is called the Road Less Traveled. My grandma called me Gypsy Girl when I was little and somehow it stuck, I guess she knew I wouldn't be leading a "normal life". No wonder nobody's asked me to marry them yet..... One of the first songs I ever wrote was called Gypsy Girl. I remember my dad and mum coming to my first show at Java Joes. Two things that stood out that night was my dad sitting under a huge poster with an innocent girl holding a rose. The poster said, "Every father's daughter is a virgin." It seemed fitting that my dad had chosen that seat. Also when I sang my song Gypsy Girl, my mother cried. My mother never cries. I think she knew I was in for a life of heartache. I am an artist to the bone, I live in a world of cartoons, romantic love and roller coasters. On my epitaph I want it to say a Life Well Lived. I think she knew I was on a road that would break my heart. The road has twisted and turned, it burnt me, bent me and broke my heart in ways I never knew could happen. But everywhere I go I get to meet the most amazing people, I get to experience things I never thought I would. I've gotten to work with amazing people, my band they are my family and my best friends. This album is my favorite so far. It is me.... My goal at 18 was to become the best person I could be, I'm still working on that. Authenticity is so important. I feel so lucky to play with the people I get to play with, they are all unique, authentic and kind people.
