My name is Pamela Helms, most people call me Nikki. I am a 29 year old mother of three amazing boys. My two oldest, Dante age 7 and Trystan age 4, are from my previous relationship in which I was in for almost 8 years till seperating from my ex-fiance February 2015. He had not been living with us since December 2014 though.
We had originally agreed that everything would be kept out of court to spare the kids a court battle and had an agreed on amount of financial support that he would pay per month for both boys. Over the last year or so though things have been breaking down between us when it comes to co-parenting, most of which started not long after he started seeing someone new. I have moved on into a serious relationship with a new baby and became engaged so someone who is amazing with the boys and has stepped up in a million more ways then I could have ever asked for. Well this has not set well with the ex and he has been taking it out on me and has started to fight and refuse to financially support his boys and hardly ever sees them. He never calls or texts to see how they are doing or talk to them. The only time he does see them is when I practically push them onto him but I have decided that I will no longer push it and if he never sees them then that is on him. I was raised by a single mother and never had my father in my life, that was not the kind of life that I wanted for my own kids but I also refuse to make someone be a part of his kid's life when he has shown that he does not want that. I have now started to feel that he will do what ever he can to make me pay and I am afraid of what he will do when it comes to the boys. I have been the boy's sole caregiver since forever, I am a stay at home mom thankfully and they reside soley with me. I will not allow him to take the boys away from me and live with him when he does not have a stable home or a job. He is also verbally and physically violent to them by ways of yelling and hitting them when they have done nothing more then be kids.
I am now in the hunt for an attorney but sadly since most require a consultation fee and upfront payment I do not have the funds to hire one at this time. I am wanting to have one on my side because I just have this gut feeling that because of how much his parents dispise me that they would be more then willing to get him one if it means I lose the kids. I really feel that I need to get an attorney as soon as possible in order to get a hand up in this and make the first move to insure that the boys stay with me and stay safe and loved. Any help would mean the world to them and me and I know that I would never be able to repay it but it would mean that a family would be able to remain together and that kids would not be yanked away from the mother, baby brother and their home.
