Denham Springs, La Devastating Flood

In the past few days, Denham Springs, Louisiana has been inundated with over 20 inches of rain. Many people have lost everything and have escaped with only the clothes on their backs. I attended junior high and high school there from 1983-1988. I still have many friends there who are in real need of help. The city and high school are underwater. I live in Northern VA now and want to help in any way possible. I've never done this before and I'm not sure where to send donations. Maybe to the high school or the city itself? I just feel like I need to do something to help out these good people.
