Autism Assistance Dog For Blake

Donation protected
Blake was diagnosed with Autism in November 2015, Epilepsy in March 2016, recurrent glue ear (as a result he has some low level hearing loss) and has recently been prescribed glasses as he is long sighted.

It is for all of these reasons that Blake struggles in just about every aspect of his life. Blake recently regressed by 18 months which is quite significant and is still awaiting further testing by way of an MRI of his brain.

Unfortunately due to this regression, he also lost the ability to complete tasks that he once was able to complete and all the therapy he had learned over that time is currently being relearned.

Every aspect of Blake's senses are heightened so he struggles in crowds, Kindy and shopping centres to name just a few.

Blake's speech therapist recently suggested that we try to obtain an Autism Assistance Dog to help him with his day to day life. The best thing about a dog is that they are uncomplicated creatures to which he can relate (and who do not speak back).

Unfortunately the cost of training one does not come cheap and it is for this reason that we have swollowed our pride and set up this Go Fund Me page.

The dogs can take anywhere from 18 months to 2 years to train and Blake would benefit from weekly therapy sessions with the dog until such time as it is fully trained. Once he or she is fully trained then he or she gets to come and live with us.

If you are interested to see what these incredible dogs can do, I invite you to look them up on YouTube.

Every dollar will help us achieve our goal no matter how small.

Thank you xx
