Empower the Deaf Community

Donation protected

Hello!
My name is Jessica Martens and I have Ushers Syndrome. This means I am profoundly Deaf and am losing my peripheral vision slowly.
My Deaf partner and I live in small town called Lismore where I have 3 beautiful children. We have been struggling ever since we moved to Lismore from NZ due to being a single income family.
Now I am studying 2 courses - one is Certificate III in Auslan and the other one is TAE40110 which is being held in Sydney one weekend a month for next 7 months. The reason this particular TAE course is so vital for me is because it is being provided in my native language - Auslan. I believe that I have the skillset and knowledge necessary to help the Deaf (and hearing) community to gain better awareness and access in everyday life. I am a passonate advocate and it is very important to me that I give the Deaf community better access with my skills and support.

If successful, this GoFundMe campaign will help me to cover my travels to Sydney for next 7 months and enable me to pursue my dream career teaching Auslan as well as participate in community development strategies for the far North Coast Deaf community.

It will mean the world if you can help me reach my dream path and your contribution will make the financial stress far easier on me and my family. This is an once in a lifetime opportunity and I am determined to make this happen but I cannot do it without your help.

Thank you!
