Help John Ramoth Beat Cancer

Last month my friend Sabrina told me her husband John went to the ER for pain. They thought at first it was a kidney stone, but upon further scans they found the dreaded shadow, a shadow that changed their lives. John was diagnosed with testicular cancer and immediately underwent a surgery to remove the tumor.

Following the initial surgery, additional scans confirmed the cancer had spread. Now John, a hard working husband and father to three small children, has been forced to go on disability in order to undergo treatment for testicular cancer and they struggle to make ends meet.

The premium for their medical insurance eats nearly all of the money disability brings in. Normal bills are left as well as living expenses with almost nothing left to cover them.

Currently on his second of four rounds of chemo, they are seeing the medical bills continue to roll in. And there is yet another surgery in the future after the rounds of chemo are completed.

 As John faces this trial head on, he and his loving wife Sabrina struggle to keep life as normal as possible for their 7, 5, and 3 year old children. How do you explain this to a child? How do you tell them life is different because daddy is sick? How do you make their days feel safe and normal when all you can do is worry about how to pay for tomorrow?
