This is Hannah. Hannah is 13 , she loves to sing and dance, has an amazing sense of humor, and enjoys spending time with her friends and family. This little girl has always been a fighter. At the age of 4 Hannah was diagnosed with kidney cancer, after multiple surgeries and chemotherapy she went into remission. Since then we have noticed a significant decline in her mental and physical health. After years of specialists appointments and testing Hannah has recently been diagnosed with Neimann Pick Type C.
Neimann Pick Type C is a neurodegeneritive disease, it is very rare and always fatal, with the majority of those affected passing away prior to the age of 20. As the disease progesses Hannah will lose the ability to walk , talk, eat, laugh, and remember. Hannah now uses a walker to get around and a wheelchair for longer distances. Modifications need to be made to the family home to make life more manageable for Hannah and her family (e.g. wheelchair lift, wheelchair accessable bathroom.)
Finances are always a big worry in times like this, Hannahs mother is having to take an incresing amount of time off work to care for her needs, and her step father is unable to work as he is recovering from complications due to his own thyroid cancer.
