Gettysburg Montessori Cafeteria

The Gettysburg Montessori Charter School (GMCS) is a FREE public/ charter school open to students from any school district in Pennsylvania. Our charter school allows Montessori education to blend with traditional elements to bridge the gap between public school and private school. Montessori emphasizes the development of the whole child: cognitive, social, and emotional, while the charter aspect requires state testing for peer monitoring and learning measurements. Children in a Montessori class learn through hands-on activities while teachers facilitate.

Most recently, we are very excited about the purchase of our new building! We have been dreaming of our own building for years and this location will allow us to grow and create a dynamic learning environment for our students! We want to first and foremost thank all the families and staff that have donated paint and painting supplies, cleaning supplies, flowers, mulch, and their own time and effort in bringing our dream to fruition. However, with the purchase of a new building there are many unforseen expenses. Our newest project is to furnish our cafeteria. Without your help our only option, right now, is to have the students eat their breakfast and lunch in the classrooms. We hope to allow our students to experience eating in a cafeteria instead of their classrooms with only their classmates.   We believe that socialization is a skill that needs to be focused on and by eating in a school cafeteria with their peers, this lesson would be able to be taught.  In order to make this possible we are asking for donations toward school cafeteria tables. 

We hope that this project can be completed before the first day of school, so that our students can eat their breakfasts and lunches in their new school cafeteria.  On behalf of the students at Gettysburg Montessori Charter we would be so grateful for any donations.
