Adam and Christine Roth were so excited to find out their wish had come true! They were being blessed with a baby due October 9th, 2016!!!! They, along with big sister Sophia, were even more excited to find out they were having a baby girl! More importantly initial blood work came back showing the pregnancy was progressing beautifully and everything looked perfect. They couldn't wait to see her on the 'big screen' at her 2nd trimester untra sound. A few minutes in, Christine started to think something was wrong. She had a feeling that things just didn't look right. When the Dr. came in he confirmed that something was definitely wrong. In that moment their worst nightmare became a reality. He told them the baby appeared to have Thanatophoric Dysplasia. An extremely rare and fatal non-genetic skeletal disorder.  Thanatophoric dysplasia (TD) is the most common form of skeletal dysplasia that is lethal in the neonatal period. The term, thanatophoric, derives from the Greek word thanatophorus, which means "death bringing" or "death bearing." They were referred to a perinatology group at IU/Medthodist/Riley in Indianapolis. Extensive testing, as well as an amniocentesis was performed to get a definate diagnosis and to confirm whether the baby's condition was genetic. Almost 5 very long, trying, and emotional weeks later the results were finally back. Our worst fears were confirmed. Their beautiful baby girl has TD. It was also confirmed that her condition is not genetic. As hard as the last 2 months have been, it's hard to imagine that the worst is yet to come. Please open your hearts and pray for this amazing family! No one should ever have to endure the loss of a child. Please help us raise money so they do not have to bear the financial  hardship as well. Every penny will be greatly appreciated! No amount is too little to help. You will never know how much your kindness and prayers mean to them!
