Gillson Park Migratory Bird Habitat

Some days it feels like it's hard to make a difference in this world.  Here's a way that you can help beautify Wilmette and give our feathered friends the habitat that they need for survival.

The Wilmette Park District applied for and received a $60,000 grant to enhance our lakefront habitat to benefit migratory birds.  This grant requires a matching amount from the community.  The Ouilmette Foundation has taken on this fundraising task with the confidence that we are a community that cares about our lakefront and our environment overall.  

The lakefront is lacking in the proper landscaping to support migratory birds' needs.  This funding will allow us to add native bushes, grasses, flowers and other plants that compliment the grand tall trees that are already in place.  As a result, birds will have proper food sources  for their massive travels up and down the contininent and we will have a beautiful lakefront with lots of colorful visitors to enjoy.
