The new Igbo Culture and Support Network [ICSN] Exective Committee began their tenure in April 2016 and were elected to continue fostering a dynamic and engaging ICSN. To share more culture and to bring a wider community ethos together. We accepted the challenge.
Unfortunately, in the same month, we were saddened to hear that our Igbo kin were brutally attacked in and around Enugu state. Our hearts and minds instantly went out to the victims and families of the victims of these atrocities and we felt we had to do something to support. As an organisation dedicated to being the 'voice' of so many young Igbos here in the UK and the diaspora, ICSN [www.icsn.co.uk] has pledged to help our people. Following on from the very first ICSN Olympics and Family Day, in which all profits of the event will be going towards this cause, we are appealing to all to help us in our endeavour to assist and help in rebuilding the Nimbo community in Enugu state.
We are raising money to donate to the hospital where many of the victims of these attacks were taken to, Bishop Shanahan Hospital in Nsukka. Our hope is that this money will be used for a better level of care for these victims, an environment to aid the healing process. Comfort for the rehabilitation of our people and hopefully a chance to get back to some form of normalcy.
ICSN would like to make this donation in the next month and would like to pledge this charitable contribution by the 19th November. We hope you can help. It means so much to us and our community that we are able and willing to help those in need. When we are able to do something, whether great or small, for our brothers and sisters, it shows we are a connected people, a beacon of light that shows we stand together. And we will always be a strong people.
