Setting up SEND Youth Group (#ICE)

We are a group of parents whose wonderful children have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).  We were all struggling to find convenient places for our children to socialise in the area as most places are full, infrequent or distant.   The majority of children with SEND struggle with social situations and it is important that they have opportunities to progress outside of the school environment.  We have all been working very hard to ensure that we are ready to open a youth club once a week in Hungerford (Berkshire) that is dedicated to individuals with SEND.  Our mission statement is:

 “A hub to support young SEND individuals in becoming Independent, Confident and Empowered members of their community.”

All monies raised will be used in the setting up and running of the youth group for insurances, checks on volunteers, equipment, craft supplies, and so much more.

It would be great if we could have some funds before the beginning of September so we can be ready and waiting to welcome as many families as possible.

This will make a difference to more than the children who attend as it will give people an opportunity to volunteer and gain new skills and most parents will get a couple of hours respite which can make a world of difference to a household dealing with SEND.

We would all be most grateful for even the smallest of donations as every penny counts at this stage!
