CG1473 Memorial Fund

Donation protected

The Officers of Air Station Kodiak Alaska are raising funds to honor and remember the six lives lost aboard the HH-3F helicopter, CG1473 on 02 November 1986 with a memorial bench and monument to be placed on Narrow Cape and Ugak Island.

The crew was on an errand of mercy in treacherous Alaskan weather to MEDEVAC an injured person from a remote village when they crashed into Ugak Island in extremely high winds, darkness, and low visibility.

To honor and remember their sacrifice, Air Station Kodiak is placing an Alaskan Birch Memorial Bench on Narrow Cape to provide a quiet place of reflection overlooking Ugak Island in a popular hiking spot so that others may learn about and remember the lives lost on the evening of November 2nd, 1986.  A separate engraved granite memorial will be placed on Ugak Island near the crash site to honor their memory.

Thank you for your support to help honor and remember the brave servicemen who gave the ultimate sacrifice so that others may live.

In memory of:
