Life-saving surgery for rescued cat

Donation protected
Meet Tornado! He is a survivor!  February 25, 2016  an F3 Tornado touched down in Essex County devastating buildings, homes, a church and affected lives forever.  Among those affected were numerous cats that lost their homes.  Tornado lived on Deshae Rd., in Essex County as an outside cat and his shelter was destroyed.  He and several other cats were rescued by Indian Rivers Humane Society immediately following the event.

Tornado came to us a frightened, timid, male cat, and had injuries from the tornado.  He has recovered from his injuries, received needed vaccinations, was neutered and found a loving family where he gets lots of love and attention.   Since being with his new family he has become an affectionate, attention seeker that loves to have his head and neck rubbed.

Unfortunately, he has been recently diagnosed with a rare medical condition where his saliva does not drain properly and accumulates in a pocket on the side of his neck. He needs surgery to repair this condition to live a long healthy life with a family that has fallen in love with him. Without surgery the fluid will continue to build until he is not able to eat or breathe and will die. His condition is so rare, that it requires a specialist to perform it.  The surgery is expected to cost $2,500-$3,000.  Please consider donating to help IRHS help save Tornado.
