My name is Rebecca Barlow and I'm currently a student midwife living in Peppermint Grove Beach a small coastal town in the South of Western Australia .I have started a mobile pop op shop "Pink Ginger " a mobile op shop including handmade vintage clothing that travels to local businesses,markets and peoples homes ,Fund Raising money for women's health charities .
At this stage I'm travelling with everything packed and then unpacked out of my vehicle ,
I'm raising funds to purchase a trailer/small caravan to make it easier and to also set up a website so people can also purchase online .
This project will be a merging of two passions Midwifery/women's health and op shopping . Pink ginger will be popping up @local business /cafes,markets/parks and can also come to a place/event of people's choice such a fundraiser or social gathering ,perfect for full time workers who miss out on op shopping during businesses hours and the opportunity to mix women,wine and op shopping all together .
The first big trip will be in October travelling with my two boys and the "Pink Ginger" mobile op shop raising money along the way from Perth to Melbourne on route to attend the CATSINaM ( Congress of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nurses and Midwives) International Indigenous health conference .
The beauty of the pop op shop is that money will be donated to charities of my choice and also an option for a group hosting a pop op shop event to choose a charity of their choice .
There are so many areas of women's health that Pink Ginger will fund raise for on a national and global level for such charities as those supporting Indigenous health , promotion of women's right and equality ,social detriments of health such as domestic violence ,teen pregnancy,access to education ,humanitarian issues such as refugee women/families.
