We have started up this gofund me page to ask for you help regarding our Animal assisted therapy adventure The Shepherd's Gate.
The Shepherd's Gate was founded in 2015. We started with six young ewes and a big dream.
We offer animal assisted therapy and education, traveling around many schools in the local area. We started doing this with our first batch of orphan lambs from 2016. This has involved our orphan lambs visiting children to teach them about the life cycle of farm animals, responsibility and teamwork through animal care. We have seen an added benefit with working with disadvantaged children and have been overwhelmed with such positive feedback from staff and parents.
Many are now requesting return visits and have enquired about us providing programmes where the children can come out to visit us and the animals. We have also been contacted by specialist schools for children with additional needs to help assist with providing a bespoke therapeutic programme for their students.
We are currently offering all of our services free of charge or for a small donation from the school. So far the whole journey has been solely funded. This has been whilst juggling a full time job, caring for all our livestock and trying to offer hands on as many farms as possible to gain more experience.
We have plugged away and are fortunate to have found some land where we can now call home. This is on a busy local footpath which is already creating lots of interest locally. The sheep and lambs have become very popular being on the footpath.
We have a growing interest on social media and are really pleased the local BBC is recognising the work we do and have covered one of our school trips. The video has over 10k views and rising.

What are we raising money for
Any donations we would be lucky enough to receive would be used in ways in which we could enhance our service and the support we would be able to provide.
For example with more suitable transport we could visit more schools in city areas and ensure the animal's safety on their journeys.
With more equipment we would be able to enrich the children's visits and enable them to take part in more hands on activities with the animals.
Equipment:
£300 Handling/Turnover crate
£300Lamb weigher
£200Hurdles
£200 Fencing (so we can get rid of the electric and make it more child friendly)
£2000 Transport: A small pickup with a canopy back. This will enable us to visit more schools and local events.
We are passionate about what we do and the vision we have for The Shepherd's Gate. Our door is always open for people to come and visit to find out more about what we do. If you would like to meet our lambs please let us know.
