Help support the recovery of Edmonton teen, Braydon Heather, 14 years old, who was viciously assaulted in Beaumont, Alberta, CANADA

On Tuesday, June 21, 2016, Braydon Heather, was found severely beaten and left to die at a construction site in the town of Beaumont, 3 kms South of Edmonton. How he got there is unknown.  Braydon was assaulted so badly, that he is expected to be under sedation for several days to allow for the swelling in his brain and spine to decrease.  While sedated, he has a breathing tube and a feeding tube.  The injuries Braydon sustained will keep him hospitalized for weeks, and take at least 1 year to fully heal.  After that, Braydon will need dozens of doctors and rehabilitation appointments, and several plastic surgeries, to try and restore his physical appearance and functional use of both of his arms. Braydon will also require professional counselling to heal his emotional scars for years to come.  His list of injuries are shocking and more than anyone should have to deal with.

The assailant(s) cut his mouth like "The Joker".  This cut damaged a transverse jugular vein by his left ear that needed repair.  The left earlobe is now gone. Braydon has multiple cuts to his hands and arms.  These cuts required hundreds of stitches to close up.  His left thumb needed to be reattached in a 4 hour micro surgery procedure, the tip of his thumb could not be saved. Braydon’s right elbow, left wrist and both sides of his jaw are broken, currently held together with plates and pins and will require further surgeries.  The muscles and nerves around his eye are severely damaged; potentially affecting his ability to close his eye.

At this point in time, it’s almost impossible to tell how long Braydon’s recovery will take.  What we know for sure is that his family will be putting their lives on hold to help Braydon regain his life.  His mother, Amberleah, will be his sole full time caregiver to get him healthy, back to school, and back to living a positive life.  She has been a friend to many of us since grade school. Our goal of $80,000 will go to the Heather family’s monthly bills, as Amberleah will be quitting her job to look after her son.  The funds will also be used for further expenses related to his recovery and rehabilitation.

Braydon is only 14 years old and has his entire life ahead of him.  Braydon grew up in Millwoods in Edmonton, raised by a single mother, and has an older sister.    As a natural born athlete, Braydon was active in sports, playing soccer, hockey and baseball. Braydon should be out playing sports, not recovering from a brutal attack.

We want to thank-you for all of your kind words and encouragement.  Please help us support our friend in what is going to be a long and financially difficult time.  Any amount will be greatly appreciated and sharing this story with friends and family will help us reach our goal and beyond.  We thank-you in advance; the Heather family thanks you as well.
