Not too long ago, I was without a lot of options in Portland, Oregon. I'd left my hometown of Philly in 1981 to live my own life, and did so in Portland, Whidbey Island, Berkeley, and San Francisco. I had lost my apt. in SF in 2013 due to lack of work and the cost of living, and went back to Portland to reboot, but the same thing happened there. Plus my 91-year-old mother in Philly had gone into long-term care. With no job and no prospects, and one year from retirement, it was time to finally go home again, as mom has campaigned for nonstop for the past 35 years.
In Portland I was jobless and under threat of eviction; in Philly I’m back at my mother’s house and very close by. A cross-country move was a gigantic hurdle but your donations covered my moving truck, gas, motels, and food for the trip. You have touched my heart with your goodness. Friends are the brightest light in this dark, crazy world. In honor of all our moms have done for us over the course of our lives and in honor of you, thank you and blessings upon you!
