My name is Mike Angelidis, and I've had the honor of being selected as the Alternate Delegate in support of Bernie Sanders for the Democratic National Convention from Hawai'i.
As you may imagine, making this trip from Hawaii can be very costly. Some estimates are up to $4,000 in total cost. As an ardent Sanders supporter I've already donated hundreds of dollars and dozens of hours to the campaign. I'm willing to do what it takes to bring the revolution to forefront of the Democratic Party. Whatever you may be able to chip in to help support the movement, whether it be just $5 or $10, is tremendously appreciated.
We are at a pivotal point in our history. Elections are fraudulent and literally undemocratic (for example superdelegates exist). As a State Delegate in Hawai'i's Democratic Convention I was one of many who helped to pass our state resolution calling for the abolition of the undemocratic superdelegate process. We also fought and succesfully upheld same-day registration for Hawai'i voters.
I've been a life-long democratic and have been debating people on issues and candidates as far back as 6th grade. (I would literally argue with my teachers if they told me they were voting republican.) What has happened to the party recently though is a sham. The media likes to portray the progressives as being the "new-comers" to the democratic party. As far as I'm concerned, WE are the REAL DEMOCRATS. These corporatist hacks who dilute democracy cannot be allowed to wrongfully run the party.
The revolution is now. The time to stand up is now. Whether it's health care for all, affordable college for our children, protecting our environment, or stopping endless regime change wars. We must take a stand now.
I pledge to do all that I can within the convention to push the progressive platform and bring real change to this country. This is only the beginning, and we must press on to bring the power back to the people.
