Sawyer the Unstoppable

Donation protected
Three years ago, a brave little warrior named Sawyer made his big debut into this world 10 weeks earlier than expected weighing at 2 pounds 9 ounces and measuring at 14 inches long. He clutched his tiny fingers and fought for his life by spending several weeks in the NICU and he thankfully survived. Sawyer was born with a rare congenital disorder called CLIFAHDD, which affects his limbs along with variable degrees of developmental delay.

Ever since birth, he has been working very hard to overcome all the obstacles he has to face in his life, and he has gotten so far because of his amazing mother, Ashlyn. Ashlyn is a stay at home mother raising Sawyer all on her own and she has never once left his side or gave up on him. She is a very brave, determined and loving mother who works very hard with Sawyer to help him learn the skills that all children need to learn at their young ages. Sawyer is currently in physical, occupational and speech therapy 2x each per week. He is learning several tasks in therapy; a few things that he is learning are how to use his arms and legs to sit, crawl, stand, and walk along with using his hands to hold, release and move objects. He is learning how to talk, sign and feel sounds, swallow and use his mouth in speech therapy. He has a G-tube that he has had since birth that feeds him through his stomach, so he also needs to learn how to drink and eat in his own time and pace with the help of speech therapy. Sawyer just started school at a Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities (PPCD) in August where he also does therapy at, and he loves it there!

Because of his mother, therapy, pre-school and several people dedicated to helping him, Sawyer has reached many milestones in his life so far, and he still has so many more milestones to reach! Sawyer is a very happy little boy that never goes a day without having a big grin on his face along with never allowing his disability to hold him back, and he deserves everything that he needs!

With your help, our goal is to purchase Sawyer a chair and a bath seat that are both specially designed for children with disabilities, and they will last him for several years. They will help him sit and help Ashlyn do the necessities such as giving Sawyer a bath and feeding him at the dining table with their family along with other sitting activities. The chairs are portable, and the bath seat can be used outside as well, so Sawyer can enjoy playing in the water!

Thank you for reading Sawyer’s story and please help put a bigger smile on Sawyer’s face by making a donation towards his new chairs, no matter how big or small! Thank you!
