Team Charlee

https://m.facebook.com/CharleeRivers/                  Charlee Brooke Rivers was born on September 29, 2012. Charlee was born with hypo-plastic left heart syndrome. She is the daughter of Chucky and Dustee Rivers.  This is my neice, she is the most precious, strongest child I know. Dustee is my baby sister and she is one of the most giving, thoughtful, strongest persons I know. Through all of this she hasn't asked for any help financially. It took me a month to convince her it was okay. Chucky and Dustee have two other children they also have to support. Chucky works for the school system and Dustee does housekeeping and is enrolled in nursing school.   Charlee does have insurance, however, the result of time of work missed and travel expenses as well as all the extra expenses eating hospital food for a month for mom and dad, things have been very tough. The hospital is over an hour drive one way for mom and dad to go back and forth to care for the other two girls.

"Charlee Brooke is a happy and sweet 3 year old little angel! When she was born we had no idea she had HLHS until the next morning. The NP heard a heart murmur during a routine check. When the doctor came in and told us what was wrong, we had never heard of this condition. After they took her for testing, they took her to the NICU where she was prepped to be transported to Levine Children's Hospital. Charlee had open heart surgery at 4 days old and again at 8 months. If they wouldn't have heard the murmur, we would have went home with our little girl and she would have gotten very sick after a couple of days and it probably would have been too late. I want to thank our Heavenly Father for giving the doctors the wisdom to detect this defect on Charlee before we went home. ***On April 27th 2016 Charlee had her 3rd open heart surgery, the Fontan. After 10 days Charlee went home only for 1 day and was readmitted for an infection. The infection ended up around her heart as well as in her blood stream. She had to have her chest opened to clean out the infection and her chest was left open for 4 days. She has had to have her chest opened 1 more time since then. She has to have IV antibiotics for 6 weeks. She has undergone several procedures other than these things . She most recently had a heart cath on June 3rd because her liver has been extremely swollen. They did not find anything they could surgically repair. Part of her heart is not functioning properly. They are trying medication to give her heart time to heal. If this does not work she will need a heart transplant. We desire your prayers for our precious girl.. May God bless you. "
