Thank you for your support of my 2016 Honorary Mayor’s Race! Helping Bring Dreams to Life One Donation at a Time!
The annual Honorary Mayor’s Race begins June 1st and concludes the morning of Brandon’s Fourth of July Parade. The candidate who raises the most dollars is named the Honorary Mayor of Brandon. All monies acquired are then donated to the charities chosen by the candidates. The four local charities I’m representing are, The Brandon Outreach Clinic, The Trey Curry Foundation, The Brandon Foundation, and The Emergency Care Help Organization. All four of these amazing charities provide services to the families in the Brandon community. Here’s a little information about them:
Brandon Outreach Clinic (BOC) was established 20 years ago by a group of concerned individuals in the Brandon Community to create a way for uninsured individuals to access health care. Lacking financial resources to purchase medical care many of these uninsured individuals were going with out treatment or were seeking health care in the emergency room. Their vision was to create a safety net for uninsured individuals who were falling through the health care gap.The Brandon Outreach Clinic is an integral part of the healthcare system in the greater Brandon community. Our clinic was started in 1989 with the goal of promoting health and wellness by providing quality healthcare services, at no charge, to people without access to basic care.
The Trey Curry Foundation. Trey was an academically challenged young man with learning disabilities he fought every year to overcome. He was fortunate to have many positive educators and educational opportunities in his life. It is in light of this challenge that his family has created The Trey Curry Foundation to honor him. The foundation is committed to aiding children who have learning differences and or medical needs. An endowed scholarship has been established in the foundation name at Hillsborough Community College.
The Brandon Foundation originated in 2003 to provide assistance to local charities through the Charity Grant program. There are currently over 80 registered charities who submit grant requests for funding, to help them achieve their goals. In 2006, the Foundation Angel Program was created to assist families in the Greater Brandon Community affected by a life-threatening disease or catastrophic event. Since its inception, the Foundation Angel program has assisted over 400 families.
The Emergency Care Help Organization (ECHO Brandon FL) provides immediate relief in the forms of food, clothing and household items to those residents of Eastern Hillsborough County that have experienced a recent emergency. Since its inception in 1987, ECHO FL has assisted over 180,000 individuals, over half of whom were children, with the basic life necessities. When families experience an unexpected emergency, they are often faced with the decision paying the bills or buying food for their families.
The Emergency Care Help Organization (ECHO Brandon FL) provides immediate relief in the forms of food, clothing and household items to those residents of Eastern Hillsborough County that have experienced a recent emergency. Since its inception in 1987, ECHO FL has assisted over 180,000 individuals, over half of whom were children, with the basic life necessities. When families experience an unexpected emergency, they are often faced with the decision paying the bills or buying food for their families.
It will be my great honor to serve as Brandon's Honorary Mayor and present checks to these amazing organizations that provide so much support to our community!
