Olena Help Fund

Donation protected

Dear Friends,

I met Olena on my trip to Ukraine in 2013, through my friend Ania who told me her story.

Olena is an orphan who was abandoned at a maternity hospital in Ukraine after she was diagnosed with polio and cerebral palsy. Today she walks with a limp and drags her right leg.

Since birth Olena stayed in a special orphanage for disabled children. Later she attended a “tailoring vocational boarding school.” After graduation Olena was not allowed to return to the orphanage. Instead she was directed to reside with seniors in a nursing home. She stayed here until she enrolled in the Faculty of Education of the Lviv State University where she stayed in student housing.

Having graduated, Olena has to move as she no longer qualifies to reside in student housing. Unfortunately her disability pension is not enough to cover her medical and living expenses. Officials continuously refuse her requests for shelter because there are a lot of refugees in Ukraine.

I feel compelled to do something to help. I hope to collect funds for a small room in an old style apartment with a shared bathroom and kitchen.

If you find it in your heart to donate any amount will help.

Thank you and God Bless!
