Darrell was involved in a tragic accident on Wednesday May 25, 2016 where he was rushed to hospital with multiple injuries that ultimately claimed his life. When the doctors pronounced him clinically dead his 16 year old daughter Brooklyn asked that his viable organs be donated to help others so that her dad may live on.
Anyone that knew Darrell knew that would do antyhing for anyone. The love for his wife and children was beyond measure. Darrells second family were the girls and parents of the Dixie Girls Softball League of Cherryville and the Cherryville Lady Bull Dogs. He never missed a practice or a game and all of the girls thought of him as their "ball park dad". You never had to ask where Darrell was because he was always heard. He will be missed dearly on and off the field.
As you may know managing a funeral after an unexpected death can mean additional stress for a family already coping with grief, not to mention the financial burden it puts on the family. Not only is the family dealing with the death of their husband and father, but will now also be dealing with major medical expenses due to this tragic event. In lieu of flowers the family is asking to please make monetary donations to help pay for the funeral and upcoming medical expenses.
