Our Kelly's fight

Donation protected

Hi everyone, I am Kent's sister, Arianna. This has been a journey so far, for all of us.

We are all, so far, have been praying and putting our faith in God. We are exhausted, but still hanging in there.
When I first had the news that Kelly was in the ER, for the start of this long road and Kent was in getting checked himself for a small infection from a busted blister on his foot. All was okay at that time.

Not too long later, I get the call that the hospital was shipping her St. Cloud hospital and Kent was going down. Everything was a domino effect after that. Around 8 or 9pm on 24th (? my days are running together and I apologize) that the prognosis was not good for our Kelly girl. Her liver was starting shut down(?).
Mom, called to give me that bit of news. I had already made up my mind about heading out that same night. I needed Kent to say it was okay for me to come down and be there for him and Kel.

Kent was on his way down and I left my home in North Dakota at 11pm that night. A monkey wrench was thrown in the works and Kent did not make it down, right away. I made it to St. Cloud at about 5:30 the next morning. Our Kelly was awake, apparently she didn't get much sleep herself. Aside from the effects of a liver that isn't functioning properly, she was laboring to breathe. Her O2 sats were in the 80s and they wanted them in the 90s at least. Her physician made the call to have her intubated that day and they suctioned excess fluids from her lungs.
Her hemoglobin was in the 7-7.5 range, her sodium levels were way too low, pretty much all her eletrolytes were way too low.

Her physician was hoping to extubate her the next day if her O2 sats were in the 90s, but other issues prevented that from happening. Kelly's blood pressure was running about 84/40 within those ranges. They decided to keep the tube in and made it a goal to get her BP back up.
Yesterday, when I came in (in hopes of getting Kent to get some rest), Kelly was responding to both Kent and I (huge plus)! Her BP was still low running about 91/48.

This morning when I came in her BP was 111/74! Kelly's sister Dawn made the trip down here for a second time and Kel has been responding to her also.

Our Kelly girl, looks like a pin cushion, but we are praying for her and Kent everyday. She is resting comfortably, no changes since the other day, and she is still on the vent to keep her O2 sats up. I will try to keep up a daily posting on our girl and her progress.
