Dementia garden Dagenham care home
Donation protected
The photo s are of my 73 year old dad me and sister walking in a local park. Just under a year after moving into his forever home. Cherry Orchard have got him walking and talking and for short periods given our dad back to us. He and the other residents deserve a garden that is filled with memories so I am hoping to raise money and muscle to help create a garden full of memory sheds... sheds made into beach huts. Sweetie shops. Cafes and places to stop and remember.... Dementia is a horrible disease that steals your loved one away from reality.... Cherry Orchard has a large garden and have used their funds to buy garden furniture and an old car for one resident to recall his driving days... the car doesn't move but the gentleman loves it. They recently bought chickens but the run was not enclosed enough to stop the foxes... my mum is now buying and donating a new walk-in with sealed floor coupe and run... this will help some residents have a sense of purpose.. a job of collecting eggs for breakfast yummy. But other than that when I visit the residents follow the path around the building edge.... enclosed by a large fence... No stimulation... No points to look at that might stir a memory giving a family member a glimpse of the person they love from memory past. Please help no matter how small.... Dementia does not discriminate.... this time 2 Years ago my dad worked out at his local gym multiple times a week and only 5 years ago walked me proudly down the aisle.... most days I am lucky if he knows who I am..... help me change the lives of the current and future residents and assist the staff of this fantastic home keep on making a difference. Thanks
