WWII Navy Veteran Needs a New Roof

Donation protected
I am trying to raise the money for my father who is a WWII Veteran and has a home in need of roof repairs.  Here is his story:
Lelmer C. Bryan was born in December 16, 1922.  A widower of his wife Hilda Garner Bryan of 61 years who passed in 2014.  According to a Veteran's Day celebration a few years ago, he is the oldest living WWII veteran in Bladen County, North Carolina.  He served his country in the Navy on a Gunner Ship.  As Seaman, First Class Rating.  He was in the Pacific Theater, American Theater, the Southwest Asia, Capetown South Africa, Tokyo Bay etc. and received medals for the Aisiatic Pacific Campaign.   The USS Cheleb, he served on, which was a Crater-class cargo ship in the service of the United States Navy in WWII.
At 93 years old, he is still living at home, using a walker, with a day to day routine of cooking for himself, in which he likes to bake a cake once a week, homemade country fried steak, biscuits, butterbeans, etc.  He loves to sit on his front porch and sit and watch cars go by.  On any evening you can usually ride by and he is on the porch enjoying the birds in the yard, talking to his cat, and looking at his hanging flowers.  A former gardener who loved to garden when he was able to.  His daughter and grandchildren shop for him and go and get groceries and medicine.  His only daughter also takes him to Dr. Visits, and tries to take him out to Cracker Barrell, his favorite outing.
He built his home in the late 80's by himself and never added central heating and air, he heats by a floor plug in electric heater in the winter and cools by a fan/ wall unit during the hot summer months.  All of the work on his home has always been done by him, but he is not able to get on the roof/work on his home.
In 2015, an ice storm caused a tree to fall on his roof and damaged the  porch,  roof and siding, facia board and shingles on his home.  He had to pay for the tree to be removed and after a deductible on insurance he received$600 which was used for tree removal, and repair of handicap ramp.  He was on a limited income at the time as well as now and was unable to reroof his home due to cost.  In May of 2016, now he has a received a cancellation of insurance on his home because he has not repaired the facia board and reroofed the house.  He is on a social security income $800 to pay for electric, water, sewer, food, his part of medicines, insurances, etc. and all quotes for his home to be repaired are $7000 and higher.  Please consider helping fund the repair of his roof so he can continue to enjoy life and his porch.  This would mean so much to him because he has always worked hard and never asked anyone for help.  He has not asked us to do this in fact he would not know what Go Fund Me is, but his granddaughter recently shared a go fund me program to teachers in her work for the teacher appreciation week  where go fund me gave a gift of $100 to teachers and the teachers were successful in their funding and when I was telling her about the insurance being cancelled she wanted to post a go fund me to help with the funding of the roof.   She wrote this article for me under my account that we created. The money will be used to replace the facia board, paint it, and reroof the home. Thank you so much.
