Hello everyone! Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Christopher Brown aka Chico aka Killerardvark. You may have met me on a facebook group, BGG, FFG's Forums, or an X-Wing event.
Back in early 2014 I was asked to write a custom software program to run the Campaign Against Cancer charity X-Wing tournament. Those involved convinced me to expand and refine that software which then became Cryodex. For the past two and a half years I have been helping TOs run tournaments for X-Wing, Imperial Assault, and Armada.
I've asked for donations along the way that were mostly just encouragement to continue doing what I do. Now in 2016 I've been making significant updates to usability and expanding to new games.
This brings me to this fundraising campaign. My laptop, the one I started Cryodex on, and continue to use, is slowly dying. I also have it with me almost every Saturday in case my users have problems that need to be immediately addressed. To continue this level up support, I need a new laptop.
Because I don't expect people to donate without receiving something in return, if we reach my goal I will be build a version of Cryodex to work on Android devices. This will be capable of running X-Wing, Imperial Assault, and Armada tournaments. My personal goal is to have a first version working by GenCon and be 100% functional by the end of 2016. Just in time for the new year of tournaments. Anyone who makes a donation will be kept up to date with progress as well as consulted for ideas on how they would like it to function.
In the event we go above my funding request, I am working to create a card interaction engine. Basically a collection of articles to define how any combination of 2+ cards interact based on rule, FAQ, or FFG employee responses. The extra funds will go towards technical requirements that would have.
With TOME slowly taking over running standard tournaments, I'm looking towards other ventures and markets that are needed for our community. With your help, I'll be better equipped to do those things. Thank you for your support! If you have any questions, please let me know!
