Good evening. My name is Marie-Noël and I need your help.
I have been on a medical leave from work since April 20 because the psychiatrist who saw me at the ER on that day saw very clearly that my job has destroyed most of my sanity. I am eligible, through my work insurance, to short-term disability; however, the insurance company, being an insurance company, has been taking its sweet time analysing my claim and adding more and more bullshit requirements before they pay me anything. As of May 25 I have not received a cent yet. I have been without any income for over a month.
On June 1st, rent will be deducted from my bank account automatically, but I have exactly zero money left. The rent is $1,105.
In addition to that, because my old landlord and the management company hired by him won't let me break the lease, I still have to pay the rent on my previous apartment. The one I left because I could not afford it. That rent is $1,400. So in a week I will have to pay $2,500 of rent because of my previous landlord, and the provincial government body in charge of residential rents refuses to help me.
And of course, this being the end of the month, the bills for my cellphone and my internet/TV have come in, but there is no money to pay those either.
I have stopped going to my psychologist because I cannot afford to go.
There is no money left on my laundry card to wash my clothes. If I want food I have to overdraw my account some more. I had already taken a $5,000 loan with the bank to pay both rent in February. The money has been used and I can't pay it back. My credit cards are loaded to the max and I can't even make the minimum payment.
My parents are not currently in a financial position to help me. My dad is even threatening to stop paying my monthly student loan amount because I cannot go to the gym.
I don't know what to do or who to turn to. I can't keep my head above the water.
This is why I turn to you.
I will need at least $2,500 by June 1st. The rest can come a little later, but rent is the #1 emergency right now. My current total goal is $9,500 by the end of June, which would allow me to pay rent, bills, credit cards, loans and food for me and my 2 cats while I wait for my insurance company to get its act together.
Your money will go toward:
- Rent for my current apartment and my old one;
- Credit card debt;
- Loan payment;
- Psychology sessions to get me back into working condition;
- Keeping me online so I can access my support network of friend;
- Food for me and my cats Harley and Jinana.
Any help is very much appreciated. I do not want to go add myself to the number of homeless people in downtown Montréal this summer.
