My name is William Gerald Lumumba Mutumanje (Acie Lumumba) I am a 29 year old revolutionary freedom fighter from Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe is at a tipping point. You know it the world knows it. A conversation occupying every responsible mind, every father or mother raising a family is asking what to do next? Many of you are tired of living in the diaspora , you want to go home. World governments and multinational investors are watching to see. Will we step up to the occasion.
I want to offer an alternative solution. We disagree on a lot, but here is what we do agree on , Zimbabwe will be much better without Robert Mugabe! I understand you are frustrated because of a lack of a united opposition, it frustrates me too! I have no doubt the full apparatus of state will be deployed to ensure that Mugabe wins the next election. So lets focus on winning every Parliament seat and giving him a Parliament that will extend a vote of no confidence on his first day of office.
We have to finance the struggle. We have to mobilise , knock on doors , run phone banks and give out flyers.
Getting out the vote will cost money. Deploying foot soldiers will cost money. Lots of money ! We have 4,3 million unregistered first time voters and they have to be mobilised. I am asking you to help out or never complain again.
Not helping is as good as being complicit.
This week we are beginning a mobilisation exercise specifically targeted at the virgin vote. We have dubbed this campaign the GET OUT AND REGISTER (GOR) campaign. We have already started this campaign in Hatfield constituency and we are planning on moving into the remaining 209 constituencies. A lot of funds are needed for this exercise and we need your help.
About 2000 tshirts have been printed so far
We want to arm our volunteers across the whole Ten provinces with enough resources needed for this door to door campaign. Your money will go towards; printing of tshirts which costs about $3-$5 per tshirt and we are hoping that we print as many as possible. Transport for volunteers and potential virgin voters. Campaign materials that include Car stickers, flyers,
Billboards, Yard boards, Wrist bands, Reflector jackets etc.
However i regret to say the strategy on how we actually plan to carry out this campaign cannot be shared on a public platform such as this for security reasons.
For accountability the money raised from this platform will be managed by our finance team made up of Zimbabweans based in the United Kingdom lead by NT Mutanha who is committed in ensuring the success of this Voter registration campaign.
